This piece, titled "sun, moon, stars, rain", was made for the Beyond Words gallery show under the same name in the library at Kendall College of Art and Design. The show's theme and title was based on the poem "anyone lived in a pretty how town" by E.E. Cummings. Pieces could be inspired by the single line or the whole poem. For my piece, I took inspiration from the title, but include a book in the fairy's hand as a reference to the literature of E. E. Cummings. This piece was also an exploration of my favorite things: my favorite mediums of watercolor, colored pencil, and gouache, playing with the balance between nature and fantasy, and using a tall, arched border inspired by the art nouveau style.
This piece is also available as a print or as a bookmark online or at my local pop-up markets.
I sketch both traditionally and in photoshop to add color blocking and details.
